    1. I mean, fair enough. No one wants to get stuck next to someone like that. Not fair to other passengers for you to be spilling over into their seat.

So what are the logistics of this? How do they confirm if a person is plus sized, and when?

If they wait until you’re boarding then you can’t exactly buy an extra seat if it’s already occupied.

Or are they not letting you fly on that flight and making you buy two seats on the next flight?

Are they making people enter their weight or BMI when they purchase a ticket so that a 2nd one can be bought ahead of time?

    3. They already issued tickets for plus sized passengers and issued refunds for extra seat charges after the flight.

The change here is that they’ll only refund the extra charge if the flight wasn’t full. Fair compromise, IMHO.

Source: am fluffy and used this.

    4. I’m big and already do this, I’d be mortified if I paid for one seat and took up half of someone else’s! It’s my own fault I’m this large so why should other people suffer, it’s so easy to do, I’ve done it the last 3 flights I’ve been on.

Good. I got stuck sitting next to a 400 pound dude on a small plane and I was literally pressed up against the window the whole flight. No extra seats so I couldn’t move somewhere else. Worst experience ever.

    6. I’m a large fella. I don’t need a seatbelt extender or anything, but I’m at the max of the normal seatbelt. I do my best to shrink my size and always go aisle. I’m curious where the line is drawn.

gonna be a bitch when he checks in with the C section and can’t get his seats next to each other.

    8. Fucking finally. So glad they’re doing this. It’s so uncomfortable being next to someone who’s enormous and overflowing in to your seat on the plane. This was a long time coming and I’m thrilled to see it.

    9. I’m okay with this but airlines have been shrinking seats for a while now and I feel like they won’t stop now.

    10. I’m large. I get first class when I can.

I have bought the extra seat, and then had someone on standby take my extra seat. Total BS, no one was happy.

    11. I’m about to start stuffing my hoodie with pillows just so I can get another seat for the sole purpose of not sitting next to anyone.

    12. It makes sense. But it’s still shitty how airlines are allowed to pack us in like sardines.

    13. Flying home after a loved one died, I bought the middle seat beside me so I could have some space. The flight attendants moved someone into that seat over my PROFOUND arguments. They just moved my “empty” seat somewhere else.

My rage still knows no bounds.
